Challenge:

  • Cities struggle with parking congestion and inefficient utilization of parking spaces. The goal was to verify how IoT sensors and digital tools could help improve parking management.
  • The project also aimed to engage university students in a real-world technology initiative.

Solution:

  • In collaboration with a telecommunications partner and a university, we launched a one-year program in which students designed and built a Smart Parking system.
  • The initial prototype gradually evolved into a commercial-grade solution featuring IoT sensors, web applications, and mobile apps.
  • The platform was later enhanced with parking occupancy prediction using machine learning, SMS and card payment integrations, automated barriers, and a tool for municipal police to verify payments based on license plate numbers.
